Hicksville Public Schools offers our RISE Program to students identified as high achieving in grades 3-5. RISE stands for Recognizing Individual Student Excellence. The elementary Library Media Specialists in each building serve as RISE teachers using their expertise in research, inquiry based learning, and a variety of resources to develop an enriched grade level curriculum for the high-achieving child.
The RISE Program is structured to stimulate and develop the natural intellectual potential of high-achieving students, as well as to offer a variety of opportunities for expression within an environment that is academically challenging and encourages creative thinking. Topics covered include, but are not limited to STEM activities, Humanities projects, Latin lessons, and research.
