Posted on 05/06/2026

Hicksville Middle School proudly inducted 146 students into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during a ceremony held on April 27 in the school’s Bernard H. Braun Auditorium.

The newly inducted members were recognized for their exceptional commitment to the NJHS pillars of scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. Each student met academic criteria and completed community service, earning this distinguished honor.

The ceremony began with a Flag Salute and opening remarks by NJHS Advisor Margaret Fitzgerald. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Theodore Fulton then welcomed guests, followed by remarks from Hicksville Middle School Principal Benjamin Tangney.

In his address, Principal Tangney emphasized that NJHS recognition extends beyond academic achievement. He commended the inductees as emerging leaders who make meaningful contributions to both their school and the broader community. He encouraged students to continue striving for excellence, set ambitious goals and always pursue their personal best.
The evening program was further enriched by musical selections performed by the Hicksville Middle School Chamber Orchestra.
