Hicksville Public Schools shines with a commitment to academic excellence and personalized learning. Strong community partnerships, dedicated staff, and a rich array of extracurricular activities ensure students thrive and excel, preparing them for success in an ever-evolving world.


Student Academics

  • 94.16 % of 2025 Graduates received a Regents Diploma.
  • 88.31% of 2025 graduates were college bound.
  • AP Capstone Diploma:  15; AP Scholars:  91; AP Scholars with Distinction:  89; AP Scholars with Honor:  35; National Merit Finalists:  4 
  • 76 students earned the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Endorsement.
  • 222 students earned the Seal of Civic Readiness in 2025-2026.
  • 40 candidates to earn the Seal of Biliteracy in 2025-2026.
  • The High School Science Olympiad Team won 3rd place at the Regional Tournament at Division High School and won in three categories at the State Science Olympiad Tournament.
  • The Meteorites Squared Robotics Middle School Team placed second at the FIRST Robotics Long Island Championship Tournament held at Hicksville High School and will be participating in the American Robotics Invitational in June.  
  • HS Team finished 4th out of 2500 teams in the New York State Personal Finance Challenge.
  • Best Communities for Music Education, 10 years in a row, 4 NYSSMA All-State Musicians
  • Scholar Artist Merit Award Winner, 7 LI Best Art Awards Winners
  • HS Marching Band placed in the top 5 at NYS Championships.
  • Shanti Fund Peace Artwork Award Winner.

Student Athletes

  • Our athletic program proudly includes National, New York State, Long Island, and County Champions, along with multiple Conference Athletes of the Year.
  • To date, over 80 student-athletes have earned postseason honors, including All-State, All-Long Island, All-Conference, and All-Division recognition.
  • For the third consecutive year, we have been recognized as a New York State School of Excellence, with 75% or more of our varsity teams earning the Scholar-Athlete Team Award.
  • Currently, 18 of our 21 teams have achieved the NYS Scholar-Athlete Team Award by maintaining a team GPA of 90 or higher.
  • Several of our teams have been honored with Sportsmanship Awards during their respective seasons.
  • Over the past ten years, we have consistently increased student registration and participation in our athletics and intramural programs.
  • Between 400–500 students across the high school, middle school, and elementary levels participate in our intramural programs.

Staff

  • Hicksville High School English teacher, Amy Mastrocinque, was the recipient of the prestigious SCOPE School District Educators Award.
  • Amy Mastrocinque and Elizabeth Careccia facilitated a workshop at the Long Island Language Arts Council (LILAC) Spring Conference entitled From Access to Agency:  Affirming Student Voice Through Academic and Linguistic Supports in Secondary ELA. 
  • Secondary Math teachers Dr. Lauren Crespo, Mr. Biagio DeRisi, and Ms. Krystal Chase, along with ENL and World Languages Supervisor Ms. Janet Suarez-Lovett, shared their session, “Unpacking Learning Targets through Anchor Charts: Making Academic and Linguistic Demands Visible for Multilingual Learners.” at the Long Island Teachers Institute @LIRBERN Conference. 
  • Hicksville Middle School English teachers Dr. Jamie Ruppert and Dr. Ali Khan presented a welcomed “Magic Schools in the Classroom” workshop at the Long Island Technology & Education Summit.  
  • Hicksville Public Schools was selected as one of only 26 districts—out of nearly 686 across New York State—to receive the 2025 VISION Endorsement from the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA).
  • English teacher,  Meg McElroy won NYSUT Humanitarian of the Year for her work with the Children's Cancer Research Fund. 

Curriculum & Instruction

  • IXL Full implementation in grades K-12 for ELA and Math.
  • Elementary Science Committee selects a New Elementary Science Curriculum for the 2026-2027 school year, Mystery Science.
  • Curriculum Writing Projects included: Home Language Arts(MS & HS), Elementary RISE, Math Fundamentals(HS), Math 8, Financial and Digital Literacy, Elementary Social Studies Grades 3,4,5, Spanish, French, and ASL Grade 7.
  • Implemented Heggerty Bridge the Gap reading program in reading support classes.
  • Hicksville showcased its work on the Academic and Linguistic Demands(ALD) to a distinguished delegation from the New York State Education Department and the Board of Regents.  We were the first district in the state to implement the Academic and Linguistic Demands in NYS.  Members of the ALD core teacher leadership team included: Elizabeth Carrecia, Krystal Chase, Lauren Colavito, Lauren Crespo, Biagio DeRisi, Julianne Dunn, Maryanne Guzman, Ashley Hershkopf, Michelle Jeannette, Amy Mastrocinque, Andrea McAuley, Joanne Paraskevopoulos, Karin Reiner, Jennifer Roth, Kyrstin Stehle.
  • Implemented a Teacher-Led Professional Development session series with over 25 sessions delivered by our teachers for our teachers.
  • Parent communication platform, ParentSquare selected for 2026-2027 implementation.
  • EMT Program partnership with the Hicksville Fire Department.
  • Expanded full day ICT through grade 2.
